Legends say that a wildman called the Yarin, seemingly a smaller, red-haired version of bigfoot, lives in China even today. The MQ program takes a team and goes looking for the beast. Could it be a misidentified version of some other, known creature? Jeff Meldrum suggests it might be gigantopithecus -- the largest primate ancestor. Will footprints, hair samples, and other evidence lead to a breakthrough? The first prints they examine seem to have curled, ape-like toes -- unlike sasquatch. The show also features the usual witness reports of sightings, including a man who spotted a group of the creatures. Even a local naturallist/guide once saw the creature lounging on the hillside. "It wasnt a bear," he says, though some plaster casts (not from his sighting) turn out to be probable bear tracks. The team (from the US with local guides) sets up the two camera traps theyve been allowed to bring into the country. After a delay by the Chinese authorities, the group hikes out and sets up camp at 9500 feet, lays out bait, and uses their thermal camera (for which they had to get special permission). In fact, they have only 36 hours to search -- not a lot of time in a very big country.
One of the scientists, Jeff Heldrum, brings a "mug book" of primates to see which of the shots eyewitnesses will pick out as being close to the creatures theyve seen. The witnesses pick orangutans, though orangs have long been extinct in China. Hair samples from sightings are sent to the US for examination and analysis. As usual, camera traps turn up void of anything mysterious. Footprints are inconclusive, and no DNA is obtained from hair. One reddish hair sample turns out to be dyed human hair. Still, the scientists express their pleasure at having opened a new frontier for Western crypto exploration. Despite the exotic location, this turns out to be just another of MonsterQuests standard bigfoot shows. It has the usual mix of interesting witnesses plus evidence that doesnt hold up to scientific scrutiny. If you like bigfoot stories, check this episode out; if not avoid it.
A Maine witness at Bangor reported watching a cigar-shaped UFO crossing the sky at about the speed of an airplane beginning at 4:38 p.m. on January 17, 2015, according to testimony in Case 62745 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness and her husband, who was driving, saw the object heading toward them.
"I looked out the car window to my right and saw what first looked like a long, metallic blimp swooping near us toward the ground," the witness stated. "It was moving about as fast as an airplane, but was dead silent."

The witness said she shrieked and pointed out the object to her husband.
"Structurally, it resembled a blimp, but was long and narrow enough to be considered a cigar-shaped UFO."
The witness looked online to see if there were any military (or civilian) aircraft that resembled it and also asked her father, who has been a pilot for years and is also an amateur astronomer.
"The closest thing I could find was a half-scale model of an airship that will be tested by the military, but to my knowledge hasn't been flown yet and is still being constructed. At the tail of the craft were flashing red and white lights, not unlike an airplane."

The witness watched the object until it moved out of sight.
"I studied it carefully until it flew upwards and quickly out of sight. It could have been manmade, but the speed and complete silence puzzled me. I saw a flying saucer once a few years ago and was glad to have a fellow witness this time for an event."
Bangor is a city in and the county seat of Penobscot County, Maine, population 153,923.

There is a common misconception of Texas terrain as being nothing but prairies and deserts, with a lone tumbleweed rolling by. It is probably safe to assume that many people who have never been to Texas, formed their opinion from watching the television show Dallas in the 1980s. In East Texas, which is where the majority of the reported sightings of bigfoot occur in the state, there are approximately 12 million acres of forestland. That is equivalent to 12 million football fields.There are four national forests and five state forests in Texas, all located in East Texas, the primary and most important forest area in Texas. The East Texas Pine Belt, or "Piney Woods" as it is commonly called, extends over forty-three counties and accounts for almost all the state's commercial timber.There has been a long history of sightings in the state of Texas. One of the first in the history books is the strange case of the The Wild Woman Of The Navidad. This is a story that was recounted in the Legends of Texas published by the Texas Folklore Society in 1924. The creature was described as covered in short brown hair and was very fast. She eluded capture because the horses were so afraid of the strange creature that they could not be urged within reach of the lasso. These events occurred in 1837 in the Texas settlements of the lower Navidad. Mysterious barefoot tracks were seen frequently in the area. There are Native American legends dating back hundreds of years that describe tribes of giants that were hair-covered and lived in the woods.A report that I came across years ago was written up in a bigfoot newsletter in 1970. It was written by a man from California who shared a barracks in the Army with two soldiers from Longview. He wrote, "In or about the year 1965, there was a rash of reports of giant hairy creatures roaming the thickets and back country between Jefferson and Longview, Texas, but nearest to Longview. A man and his little daughter reported it as being a large, black and not a bear. Several head of cattle and a couple of people were supposedly killed by it. Private Jacobs was a member of a posse that hunted the creature when he was a teenager. He told me that he saw the body of one of the murdered persons and that the victim had been torn apart. At the time, he threw his gun back in the car and went home. I can't blame him, he was only 14 or 15 at the time."We started investigating this case by digging through the newspaper and library archives in Marshall and Jefferson, finally finding an article dated September 1, 1965 that mentions the Marion County Monster Legend. The article was titled Boy Says For Real Sighting of Monster Renews Marion Legend. The story is about a 13 year old boy who was allegedly chased by an ape-like creature while walking home from a friend's house one afternoon. Two men picked the boy up in a car and drove him home. The boy described it as "about 7 feet tall with thick long black hair all over its body except for the face...the face, stomach and palms of its hands." Marion County Deputy Sheriff George Whatley investigated the scene, but found no evidence of a large animal having been there. A UPI clipping, dated September 20, 1965, from Jefferson, Texas, entitled Town Fed Up With Monster Hunters was also found concerning the incident. Sheriff Luke Walker is quoted as being upset by the bigfoot hunters from three states who had overrun his small northeast-Texas town since a thirteen-year-old boy came running out of the woods three weeks earlier telling of seeing a big, black hairy thing.Charles DeVore of Karnack, one of our investigators, started doing some follow up investigation, using the names found in the articles. Sheriff Luke Walker and Deputy George Whatley had both passed away. He went to current Jefferson law officers who were very helpful and directed him to one who worked for Sheriff Luke Walker back in the early 1970s. This officer related that he had spent many hours with Sheriff Walker back then talking over events of his career and their was no possibility that any bigfoot killed anyone around Marion County during the 1960s or any other time in Jefferson history. This officer even called several people that he knew that were around back then and none of them knew of any bigfoot killing.Next on the list was Dwain Dennis who owned the Jefferson Jimplecute at that time. Charles found him to be in good health and with a very sharp memory. He corroborated the Marshall News Messenger story about the 13-year-old kid who claimed to have been chased by a bigfoot. He had interviewed the kid himself that day. He related that something had scared him very bad but to this day is not sure what it was. He felt that the tracks that he found were not faked evidence.He and his wife spent all their spare time for about 6 weeks researching into that story and a few related stories that sprang up from the original. His newspaper articles generated calls from throughout the country and from several foreign countries. Many other stories sprang up in other media and tabloids and got embellished from there. While many people did come to Jefferson to learn more or chase down embellished rumors, or hunt down the imaginary killer bigfoot, there was no posse organized to hunt it down. All the wild stories were generated by other outlets and totally false. He stated that there were no killings in or around Marion County or Jefferson that could even remotely be blamed on a bigfoot. Five teams competing for the 30 million Google Lunar XPRIZE have just been awarded a combined 5.25 million for meeting significant milestones in developing a robot that can safely land on the surface of the moon, travel 500 meters over the lunar surface, and send mooncasts back to the Earth. A tiny startup from India, Team Indus, with no experience in robotics or space flight just won 1 million of this prize. It stood head to head with companies that had been funded by billionaires, had received the assistance of NASA, and had the support of leading universities.
The good news is that governments no longer have a monopoly on space exploration. In two or three decades, we will have entrepreneurs taking us on private spaceflights to the moon. That is what has become possible.
What has changed since the days of the Apollo moon landings is that the cost of building technologies has dropped exponentially. What cost billions of dollars then costs millions now, and sometimes even less. Our smartphones have computers that are more powerful than the Cray supercomputers of yesteryear - which had strict export controls and cost tens of millions of dollars. We carry high-definition cameras in our pockets that are more powerful than those on NASA spacecraft. The cameras in the Mars Curiosity Rover, for example, have a resolution of 2 megapixels with 8GB of flash memory, the same as our clunky first-generation iPhones. The Apollo Guidance Computer, which took humans to the moon in 1966, had a 2.048 MHz processor - slower than those you find in calculators and musical greeting cards.
The same technologies as are available in the United States and Europe are available worldwide. Innovation has globalized.
I met Team Indus while I was in Mumbai to speak at INK last November. When they told me they were competing for the Google Lunar XPRIZE. I didn't take them seriously because I had seen their counterpart in Silicon Valley, Moon Express, which has the support of tech moguls such as Naveen Jain. How could a scrawny little startup in Bangalore take on Naveen Jain, former NASA engineer Bob Richards, and NASA itself, I thought. The Moon Express team is a force of nature, has the advantage of being on the NASA Ames Research campus, and has been given R">Team Indus was also up against Astrobotic, which is a spinoff from the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute, and Israel-based SpaceIL, which has the backing of the country's top research institutes.
The company's win blew my mind. Even though the subject of my INK talk was how Indian entrepreneurs could help change the world, I didn't think it was already happening.

The Bangalore-based startup was founded by former I.T. executive Rahul Narayan and four of his friends: an Air Force pilot, a marketing executive, an investment banker, and an aerospace engineer. None of the team had experience in building spacecraft or robots, yet they were able to build technology that could navigate to the moon.
Narayan says he expects completion of his space mission to cost around 30 million. Moon Express chief executive Bob Richards estimates 50 million. These numbers are higher than the 20 million prize that they hope to win. But both see far greater opportunities: They hope to be pioneers in what could be a trillion-dollar industry. Richards is looking to mine the moon for minerals and bring them back to Earth. Each payload could be worth billions.
The Google Lunar XPRIZE has 26 teams competing from around the world. Collectively, they will spend in the hundreds of millions of dollars on their efforts. For them, it is not all about winning the contest; many of the losers will still commercialize their space technologies or put their knowledge to use in other fields. This is the power of such competitions. They lead entrants to spend multiples of the offered purse on innovative solutions. And they motivate people outside the industry, such as Narayan, to enter it with out-of-the-box thinking.
Innovation prizes are not new. In fact, a number of celebrated historical feats were made possible, in part, by the desire to win these prizes. In the 1920s, New York hotel owner Raymond Orteig offered a 25,000 prize to the first person to fly non-stop between New York and Paris. Several unsuccessful attempts were made before an American airmail pilot named Charles Lindbergh won the competition in 1927 with his plane, "The Spirit of St. Louis".
Lindbergh's achievement made him a national hero and a global celebrity. And it sparked the interest and investment that led to the modern aviation industry.
That is what I expect will come of the Lunar XPRIZE. And that is why I am looking forward to booking my round-trip ticket to the moon one summer in the 2030s.

When I first started doing "Bigfoot Research" I thought that a Bigfoot was some sort of cross between a man and an ape. A missing link you might say. It did not take me long to realize that the Bigfoot was no ape or missing link. He looked human in the face and exhibited an intelligence equal to and at times more advanced than our own.
I also learned that there was more going on in the woods than just a large hairy man running around scaring the tourist. When Bigfoot researchers talk amongst ourselves we often share some on the "odd stuff" we have witness or experienced. These are things we would never discuss publicly and only share with those we trust. People already think you're a "kook" for researching Bigfoot so there is no way any of the "odd stuff" would be talked about.
Well I am going to break with the conventional wisdom and share with you some of the things researchers do not talk about. Some you may be aware of some you may not. I only know that if you research Bigfoot long enough you are going to run into or experience these things.
Orbs - Bright round balls of light that float through the forest. They can be almost any color and range in size from a baseball to larger than a beach ball. They have been reported to hover around Bigfoot and appear just after or before a Bigfoot sighting. They can also appear alone and not associated with Bigfoot research. I have never experienced this and if I did I would exit the area immediately. The orbs have been known to do nasty things to people and animals. In the book "Hunt for the Skin Walker" an orb was seen killing a dog by "melting it"!
Zapping (Infrasound) - This is a not so pleasant feeling of dread and "impending doom" that many people get when they are around a Bigfoot. It can be a mild or it can be server. I have experienced it many times. On three occasions I was zapped so severely that I lost my memory of events. If not for my video record I would have not known I had been zapped. I can attest that is does not feel good. Many people are very sensitive to this and I am one of those people. I have experienced headaches, eyes watering, nausea, and confusion, all symptoms of being zapped and also symptoms of exposure to infrasound. May researchers including me think that is what the Bigfoot use to "zap" you.
Mumblings - This is when you are in the deep forest and no other people are around. You will hear what sounds like people talking close by but you cannot make out what they are saying. Almost 99% of the time your video recorder will not pick this up, it's just too low which is extremely frustrating. I have heard this several times.
Mimicking - Many researchers and witnesses report hearing a baby crying in the woods where there should be none. Other times it's a person talking or child yelling for help in a remote dark area. Animal sounds that are not quite right or out of place for the time of day or time of year. (Owl hoots in the middle of the day, migratory song bird calls in the middle of winter). In one witness report a woman actually heard her own voice coming from the woods calling the chickens in to feed!
Quick Glances/Shadows - I hate when this happens to me! The researcher will see something out of the corner of his/her eye, a dark that ducks out of sight. You will feel like you are being watched, turn around and for a moment you see something but it disappears immediately. You will see a figure in thick cover, you have no doubt someone is there. You look away for a moment to move closer and when you look back it is gone.
Stick Snapping/Bipedal Foot falls - I get this treatment on a regular basis. You will hear the crisp snap of a stick, just one. You will turn and look in that direction. A few seconds later directly behind you another stick will snap. So you turn and look that way, and so on. This ploy is used so that they can take turns looking at you. Sometimes this last only last for one or two snaps and other times it has gone on for over ten minutes. On one occasion I just ignored it and went about my business and a large softball sized rock was thrown at me. So I learned to play along.
Bipedal footsteps are also common. You will be walking along and hear footsteps near you but out of sight. When you stop they stop, when you continue they continue. It's not an echo and it is usually out of cadence with your stride. I once had this happen and I sped up then abruptly stopped. The Bigfoot goofed and took two extra steps! It was before day light and I just turned in the direction of the extra steps and with great pride yelled "gotcha".
Heavy Breathing/Snort - A heavy breathing is heard nearby but the direction it is coming from is hard to discern. Also a snort will be heard, sometimes in response to the researcher and other times out of the blue.
Mock Charge - The Bigfoot will sound like an elephant coming through the woods at you. Limbs breaking, crashing trees, heavy foot falls, and then right before it breaks out into the open eerie silence. Most the time it's so quiet you can hear your heart beating in your own ears. When you go to check you find evidence of broken limbs and vegetation but no tracks, no hair, no smell, it just vanished a few feet from you!
Rock/Object throwing - This is a common one but I thought I would mention it because it can happen in very odd places and times. Many times you will look into the woods and wonder where this came from because it is so open. It is mind boggling how you could miss seeing the creature that threw the rock.
Stick, Rocks, Other things left in the trail - This one makes you think you're losing your mind. You will walk down a trail and there is nothing lying in or beside the trail. Come back through thirty minutes later and there is an X made of sticks in the middle of the trail. Sometimes a rock stack, a feather that does not belong. I once found white hair on a trail. I knew it was horse hair but no horses went by either way and it was evenly spaced out on the trail in four different locations! I also was given wild mint on top of a balanced rock stack.
Day Time Eye Shine - In the shadows you will see to evenly spaced bright white circles that appear to be reflecting sunlight but there is no sun hitting the area. At first you think it's an optical illusion until the eyes blink simultaneously or rock back in forth.
Strange Creatures other than Bigfoot - This one I have experience with. I had several encounters with a creature none as the Dogman. I have heard other researchers report seeing strange things as well. Here is a list of the ones I am aware of:
Lizard Man - large bi-pedal creature with a snake like head, claws, and scales.Goat Man - Has a Bigfoot like body but the head looks like dog with horns. Dog Bear - A creature that has the body of a bear but the head of a dog/wolf.Little People - Small fully developed people between 2 and 4 feet tall.Dwarf Bigfoot - Small hair covered creatures that look like a fully developed Bigfoot but small 2 to 4 feet tall.
Sub-Human/Feral Humans - Many researches have stumbled across feral humans. They can be mistaken for a juvenile Bigfoot. I hear these encounters can be scary because they look odd, sometimes with excessive body hair, canines, almost Neanderthal looking.
There are more, these are the ones I have been told about by other researchers.

2/16/2007 (Karki, Latvia) - On 4th February a unidentified object but apparently a meteorite knock down indoors the collection in northern Latvia punching a ravine in the ice. On the incredibly night locals claims to see UFO [what can be explained by light phenomena accompanying the meteorite]. Sound - supposed light manifestations took swell a week like in the collection area... assured claims to see beams of light. The case under investigation of Latvian groups.
On 4th February at about 10 pm. an unidentified object knock down down to a collection placed in a population in the northern part of Latvia punching a ravine in the ice shed. This event coincided before supposed UFO sightings reported in the area.
Best information on the event emerged on 13th February in "Degpunkta" spread of Latvian Majesty Select but the incident was reported as an event from 12th February. In fact it took swell a week in.
