The person who took this photo at Niagara Falls does not believe he captured anything, basically because in two subsequent photos taken right after this image, there's nothing there.
However, there is enough data present on this high resolution image to examine which suggests something was indeed there... at the least for that moment when this picture was snapped.
In the photo a distant monument of recognizable shape is visible giving us an excellent item to zoom in on with the same factor as we do the UFO.
This allows for a unique comparison of clarity in this high resolution digital image to determine how much distortion is taking place with the UFO in the image.
It would appear that the spire-like monument in the distance is considerably farther away than the UFO is from the photographer, else the UFO is gargantuan, which is unlikely.
This is clearly not a bird or a plane and has a distinct disc shape with corresponding shadow and highlight with the rest of the photo. There is no evidence of digital tampering whatsoever. There also appears to be little or no motion distortion.
"NOTE:" Quite a few people have emailed to suggest that what the photographer caught was a blimp.
Unfortunately, that can't be as we have two subsequent shots taken just seconds after this one and there is no object visible at all. It would take a blimp some time to cruise out of sight.

"Sleep! It's the things that you hear parents talk about a lot! From the beginning you wish your newborn will give you a long enough sleep stretch to feel rested, then they climb out of their crib and you move them to a toddler bed and they no longer stay in the room - each stage has its challenges! According to his son Jim, Wilbert Smith was not entirely discarded by all the forces of Government. Some shadow elements kept in touch with him and often employed him in their covert UFO-based endevours; this included several "Roswells" (See: http://hpanwo.blogspot.com/2008/03/roswells-galore.html) and Jim, in the same way as Jesse Marcel Jr, once handled a part of the wreckage of a crashed UFO, the "Ottawa Piece". And Alice Scully is reported to have seen photos of alien bodies (which she, like her husband, thought were from an the purported Aztec crash of 1948).
Scully reported that the Air Force had taken film of the crashed saucer (in Aztec) on Page 43 of his book, the paperback edition.
Now a new set of photos has surfaced, taken, surreptitiously by a geologist who, with geological team members, stumbled upon an Army mop-up of an "accident" north of Roswell in July 1947.
That geologist went to work of Silas Newton, to whom he showed the photos, and who either concocted the questionable fraud scheme he and Leo GeBauer were indicted for, using Aztec as the site of the photos or who created the Aztec story as a deflection from Roswell, at the insistence of the Air Force with whom he had collaborations.
(The latter is what I surmised really happened and the Air Force sank Newton and GeBauer to keep hidden the Roswell-by-way-of-Aztec secret(s).
Do the photos prove conclusively that some alien/extraterrestrial bodies where seen outside of Roswell in 1947 and photos were taken of it or them?
The photos seem to have a proven provenance of 1947.
The geologist was in the Roswell area in July 1947, with other geologists.
That geologist did go to work for Silas Newton.
And credible people have seen the photos, then and now.
Once all the "facts" are in, you should be able to see the "Aztec is Roswell" scenario more clearly.
For now, the matter rests with those who discovered that some interesting photos have been found, in a place and with people connected to Roswell and Silas Newton.
It's now up to them to flesh out the story for the UFO community - before the general public gets their hands on the tale and makes hash of it, not knowing the subtle vicissitudes of both the Roswell and Aztec accounts.

I was sitting on my front porch on June 28th, 2013 at 9:32 pm. I looked up towards the northeast to see if any stars were visible. What I saw threw that thought out of my mind. My mom had been looking in the same direction for about 4-5 minutes, saying, "that is a weird plane!" When I looked, I saw the same exact thing that I saw on the 4th of July last year (2012). A red light. This time, I had binoculars with me. I looked through the binoculars and saw a bell shaped object that was emitting a bright red light. I handed over the binoculars to my Mom, who noticed that it had began to rotate. As we watched (there was 5 different people who saw it) the light rotated to the opposite side of the bell. It rotated completely around three times, then just blinked out of existence. The five of us looked at each other, and just were blown away by what we had just witnessed.

Awpke from sleeping about 1:30am. went downstairs to get a drink of water. sometimes i will look out the window at the stars. Around 2:10am I noticed a dim set of unblinking/unchanging lights coming from the North and heading due south. As the craft approached I noticed it was triangular in shape and heard a low humming noise. It was travelling about twice the speed of an airplane at a low altitude. Definitely not a plane or shooting star. Noticeable shape and dark grey/black in colour. The craft passed out of view from the window and was gone.

The new set of documents, like the last, has been released to George Washington University's National Security Archive. They have posted the files with an article summarizing their content, and an e-book which further explores the files and their significance.

The new files do not reveal anything to help support conspiracy theories about UFOs or extraterrestrials at the base. Instead, they provide further information about stealth aircraft development, security concerns at the base, Soviet MiG fighters obtained during the Cold War that were tested and housed at Area 51, and some discussion about what to do with photos that were accidentally taken of the base by NASA's Skylab space station.
There is also a file that had previously been uncovered via a FOIA request by John Greenewald who runs the Black Vault website. Several years ago Greenewald placed FOIA requests for various branches of the government seeking information about Area 51. One of the files he received was a memo from the National Reconnaissance Office written in 1962 that discusses a possible mission to photograph area 51 from a U-2 spy plane. The purpose would be to find out what the Russians might see if they have cameras on their Sputnik satellites.

The other observation from space discussed in these files is that photo taken from the Skylab. This file is from 1974, and states that the photos were taken inadvertently, even though there were specific instructions not to do so. In fact the file states that Area 51 was the only location with such instructions.
While there is no information to support theories of back-engineered UFOs or the housing of extraterrestrials at a secret location near Area 51 called S4, at least now we have a trickle of new information being declassified about the base.
These recent official insights into the activities and concerns surrounding the base do demonstrate just how serious the various agencies took keeping Area 51's secrets safe.
