Astronomers detected a mysterious, brief radio signal in New South Wales using the Parkes Radio Telescope.
Known as Fast Radio Bursts, short signals like this one are comparatively new phenomenon. Scientists are yet to determine their origin.
It was in 2007 that Fast Radio Burst first occurred when astronomers discovered it after looking through related data from the Parkes Radio Telescope. Then six more bursts have been reportedly found in archival data of the Parkes Radio Telescope, and another similar burst discovered from Arecibo telescope data in Puerto Rico. However, one of these brief signals had not been detected in real time until recently.
A team of Australian astronomers lead by Emily Petroff developed a method to search for Fast Radio Bursts. The effort paid off on May 14, 2014 when a Fast Radio Burst was detected for the first time in real time. Researchers then alerted other telescopes from different parts of the world. Scientists successfully scanned multiple wavelengths with twelve telescopes investigating the signal. But ScienceDaily explains researchers found nothing even though they successfully detected the radio wave burst while it happened and could quickly make follow-up observations at other wavelengths such as x-ray waves, ultraviolet light, infrared light, and visible light.
Astrophysicist Daniele Malesani explains that the efforts were not wasted because they did not see light at other wavelengths, which eliminated variety of astronomical phenomena related to violent events, such as gamma-ray bursts from exploding supernovae and stars, which otherwise prospects for the burst.
The team concludes that the radio burst came from 5.5 billion light years away. However, the mystery remains despite the fact that astronomers learned more about this mysterious Fast Radio Burst phenomenon through eliminating some possible sources.
So, what are these radio signals? Where do they originate? What may be causing the signal? Possibilities include evaporating black holes, alien communication, and merging neutron stars.

I went outside to put my sons toys away for the night, and noticed there was a lot of local airport traffic circling the area as the planes always do on busy weekend as they wait for clearance to land. The planes were due east from my location. I started to turn to the southwest to see if Saturn was still above the horizon(saturn was stunning to view with the naked eye a couple hours earlier). I looked up and almost directly overhead appr. 80deg from directly overhead I noticed a bright redish orange-yellow sphere stationary, hovering a little lower than the local air traffic observed in the sky simultaneously. I yelled to my dad through an open window, the orange fireball UFOs are back.(we observed the same exact type of UFO, hovering in the same exact spot about the same distance from the ground. )He immediately ran outside. As we were both fumbling with our devices to get a picture or video the sphere silently ascended towards the southern skys above the commercial jets flying west. At this point the sphere began pulsating as it continued to ascend out of our atmosphere, until it slowly dimmed out like a satellite in the night sky. Neptune was present in the approximate area of the sky where this object flew off to. June,7 of this year I experienced this same type of object displaying the same behaviors, the same hovering distance overhead, same spot in the sky, even ascended in the same exact part of the sky as previously. The only difference is the first sighting there were 5 spheres hovering overhead, then they slowly ascended the same direction one by one. About a minute later, one by one 4 more vertically ascended from the treeline on the other side of the corn field in front of my house. Once the first 3 were above the trees they went one by one horizontally right above the trees to about the same spot the first 5 were hovering. A final 4th one rose from the treeline as the 3 went horizontal to the "hovering spot". This last one started to come towards us unlike the others until it was about 150ft from us. It hovered overhead as the 3 ascended into the night sky one after the other, then this last one followed the others. I was able to get pictures of the 3flying horizontally above treeline. No luck with pictures for this second sighting. I am feeling a lot of frustration at this point because nobody can tell me what it is I keep seeing in my yard, why I keep seeing them, and where "off" earth are they going?

Stepped out of my house, looked up and saw orange ball/orb moving silently across the night sky. At first I thought it was a plane, but the light didn't flash, and there was no noise at all. It tracked from the northwest, then changed direction due west, appeared to speed up then dimmed out. Took a few pics with my phone, but they aren't good enough to show any features. I have seen chinese lanterns in the sky, this was no chinese lantern. I have no explanation as to what this object is. Will definitely look up more often now.

Late post again, but not because I couldn't think of anything. I woke up this morning with the absolute best plot idea for Rex and Babbs. I'm late posting because I scrapped what I had written for this instead. Here's part two of "Change of Plans!"
Sweat streamed down her neck and back as she ran. She stifled the urge to giggle. This was no joke, though it had started off as one. A loud crash to her left had her jumping to the right on reflex. She was stifling squeals of fright now. At the last second, she spotted an ancient fallen tree, mostly rotted with a huge bowl in the earth where it's roots had torn free. It was-maybe-just barely big enough for her to hide in but not big enough for her pursuer to follow. Not taking time to think about that last though, she dashed under it, the feel of hot wolf breath on her neck making sure she knew just how close of a call that had been.

Jesse Marcel Has Died

Just minutes ago I received some very sad news. Jesse Marcel, Jr. died of a heart attack on August 24. He was alone, at home, apparently reading a UFO book when he died.
I have known Jesse for more than a quarter century. I first met him while we both were in Roswell to film a segment for the old "Unsolved Mysteries" that aired on NBC. We had gone out to dinner with a number of those in town for the program and since we shared a military background, including that of Army Aviation, we connected immediately. As medical doctor, he was trained as a flight surgeon and I, of course, had been a helicopter pilot.
From that point I met him quite a few times as we both explored the Roswell UFO crash case. He, as a young man, boy really, of eleven was exposed to metallic debris that his father had brought home late that July night. He told the story to all who would listen with little in the way of variation.
I learned of the special bond he'd had with his father. He told me that that one day, he had asked his father what the atomic bomb looked like and Jesse, Sr. had drawn a picture of "Fat Man." He then shredded it and burned the pieces. Although reluctant to share they story outside a small circle of friends, he did mention it at the Citizen Hearing in Washington this last May.
Over the years, I had the opportunity to interact with Jesse and never had reason to doubt his sincerity. He truly believed that he had handled material made on another planet and might have the first person in modern history to have seen writing created on another world. He had small, replica I-beams made with those symbols on it, and while it is just a replica, it is a very interesting one.
But what I think of mostly, these days is his military service. He had retired from the Montana National Guard as a colonel but was recalled to active duty for service in Iraq. Before he deployed, he asked me if he should take a personal computer with him and I said it had been the best investment I had made, if only for the DVD player in it.
His service there seems to have affected him more deeply than did mine. He spent a year there treating those who needed his help, but came back suffering from PTSD. The deployment cost him his medical practice because he could no longer trust his hands. Loud, sudden noises caused him to jump. He was more on edge, nervous, than he had been before going to Iraq. It was something that the government failed to recognize in the way they should have. He was a patriot who served without complaint, did what was asked of him and made the sacrifices he had to make.
I last saw Jesse in Washington, D.C. in May. He was there with several familymembers and offered his story to the former representatives and senators. They all seemed captivated by what he said, probably because he was one of the few first-hand witnesses to some of the Roswell events present. While many of us could talk of what we had been told by witnesses over the years, Jesse could talk about what he had seen and done personally in July 1947. He handled the debris.
He did call the International UFO Museum in Roswell this year telling them that this would probably be the last year he could attend. His health, while seeming not all that bad, did limit what he could do and how far he could travel. I suspect that he thought his health would deteriorate making a trip to Roswell extremely difficult if not impossible in the near future.
Jesse was a friend and a fellow warrior. I always believed that he understood more about my service in foreign lands because he shared those experiences. We connected on a level that others could not because of that military experience. Though we were never in the war zones at the same time, we did see many of the same places under similar circumstances. He served when he was needed, helped those who needed it, and contributed to our knowledge. I know that I will miss him, though not as much as his family

BRITISH UFO researchers are to examine a photo taken of a strange object in the sky above a North-East town.
Derbyshire man Barry Knaggs found the strange image when he downloaded pictures he had taken on his digital camera during a visit to Spennymoor, in County Durham, at the weekend.
Mr Knaggs, 61, was returning to the town where his parents used to live on a nostalgic visit with his wife.
Although the couple noticed nothing unusual at the time, Mr Knaggs says he was amazed when he downloaded the photos to his PC once back home.
"When I zoomed in to have a look I had to tell myself to stop being silly," he said.
"It looked like the typical fuzzy photo of a flying saucer."

Mr Knaggs sent the photo to The Northern Echo in the hope someone may be able to identify it.

A man who wrote to the Ministry of Defence to tell how he and two friends looked on gobsmacked as alien space crafts made off with their car, pet dog and tent has spoken about his close encounter.
The fleet of 12 to 15 alien space crafts were seen by 37-year-old Keith Robins one evening in 1992 while on a Whitchurch camping trip with friends Christopher French and Sylvan Salway.
Still at school, Keith and his friends had asked permission from their parents to go on the trip. But the group were left disappointed when before they had a chance to pitch their tent, the alien vessels made off with their Datsun Cherry and all its contents.
"We got all our stuff together and we parked the car up in Whitchurch," said Keith, from Rumney.
"We went looking for a gully area. My two mates were a little bit further ahead of me."
With Keith's camping tent and Chris' eight-week-old pit bull staffordshire terrier eight-week-old puppy still inside, the locked car "vanished" off the face of the earth without the engine starting.
"It all happened so fast in about three to five minutes. I walked back to the car and it had just vanished off the face of the earth," said Keith.
