Outside having a cigarette looking at stars to the east. 98% clear skies, clouds that were present were low level and thin to point of being transparent. Noticed an oddly bright light heading towards me at high altitude. No other colors other than white, no blue or red blinking. Object moving at estimated jet speeds. Object started making slight turn to the south west and then quickly faded to tiny speck of light until I could no longer see it. Object was in view for no more than 2 minutes. Looking west now I saw airplane lights heading westbound from O'Hare airport mid to low altitude(under 10,000 ft). Watched plane for about 5 to 10 secs when a very similar near identical light suddenly appeared ahead of plane moving west at extremely high rate of speed was visible for only about a second or 2 and it was gone...
