I was driving east on Amherst Road in Pelham, MA at approximately 9pm. It was a perfectly clear evening sky. I had an unobstructed view of the sky looking eastward. A extremely bright white light about 2-3 times the size of Venus suddenly appeared directly ahead of me in the sky at approximately 45 degree angle. It looked like an artificial light rather than the twinkling light of a celestial object of the "fuzzy" light of a meteor. Due to its sudden appearance and brightness it caught my attention and I initially thought it might be the headlight of an oncoming aircraft. The light remained stationery for approximately 2 seconds and then shot off to the north in a straightline at an extremely high speed. In one half of a second it travelled a distance of a quarter of the sky and then simply disappeared. Its path was horizontal to the ground. It left no trail and there was no noise.
